My Story
I want everyone to feel like they’ve had a personal experience with a friend
My first ever 3D printer was a 50 dollar cheap knock-off printer I was given for christmas in 2017. Despite the low quality I fell in love with it.
Shortly after new years in 2018 I bought my first resin UV SLA printer with the purpose of printing out my own characters mini’s.
Like most in the hobby, the Ender 3 was my first purchase for FDM printers. I printed out my first set of D&D terrain with this guy.
When I first opened up my Etsy store, I had just moved into a new apartment. I took the opportunity to do a new setup with new equipment
As technology continues to innovate I try to stay up to date. So, when Bambu labs came out with a viable multi-material system I jumped on board.
My 3D printer family expanded when Bambu released their new line of bed slinger FDMs. Despite the recent heatbed recall for it, it continues to be a valuable addition
My story begins when I was 13 years old. A group of friends introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons and the wonders associated with it. By theatre of the mind I went on adventures and journeys, saving the worlds of fantasy time and time again. As I aged, I discovered a game called Hero Scape, featuring miniatures and hex tiled terrain pieces. Seeing imagination come to life felt like another epiphany in the world of fantasy adventures.
As life carried on, I found myself moving from Wyoming down to the beautiful Florida Keys. After some ups and downs in life I decided to revive my old passion for tabletop gaming and D&D. My friend and I started a local group of like minded nerds and enthusiasts, opening up my life to even more. Shortly after starting the group the Florida Keys were devastated by Hurricane Irma.
The cleanup from Irma was extensive and exhausting. The first session of D&D back around the table I gave my friends a chance to take out some frustration against a Wyvern named Irma.
The following Christmas was when one of my best friends got me my very first 3D printer. It was an inexpensive, unknown brand FDM (Fused deposition modeling) printer. It wasn’t the best printer but made me fall in love with the hobby. After trying (and mostly failing) to print miniatures for a game of Shadowrun, the only true success was a translucent panther to represent a friend’s summoned spirit. After research I discovered resin 3D printers. So, I ended up buying my first SLA (Stereolithography) Printer.
The first model I printed on my Anycubic Photon resin printer was a sniper character for the aforementioned game of Shadowrun. My experience expanded and before long I was purchasing an Ender 3 FDM. The next year or so saw me printing out terrain and miniatures, buying another, larger Ender 3, and purchasing a coffee table sized game table. We had many adventures from a swamp, to a goblin raid on a port, to a haunted mansion tied to a backstory.
I started planning out what it would take to open an Etsy shop. I didn’t want a situation where I would feel like it was a second job, but instead wanted it to be an extension of the hobby itself. I started with a couple new resin printers and a license from MZ4250. Eventually, I learned how to paint miniatures and soon had my shop opened. Several Kickstarters later and my catalogue is continuing to fill out.
With my decision to not let my shop take over my life I began to operate on a print to order basis. I talk with each of my customers, getting to know what they’re looking for. I love to connect and talk about the characters the mini’s I make are going to be used for and enthuse about the games. I want everyone to feel like they’ve had a personal experience with a friend, and conduct myself in that way. I don’t have customers, I have friends in the tabletop community.
